About the Item
Danish Mid-Century Modern ceramic blue table lamp by Nis Stougaard (1906-1987). Smooth cylinder shape with crackle glaze in blue nuances. Manufactured in the 1960s in the small town of Svaneke on the Danish island of Bornholm which is famous for its pottery and fine ceramics. This lamp is from Stougaard's own workshop which was located in an old school in Svaneke. Stamped under base. Switch on fitting. Beautiful vintage condition.

Ceramic artist and painter Nis Stougaard was the artistic manager for acclaimed ceramics manufacturer Søholm Stentøj in the 1940s. He designed lamps, vases, serveware, and in the late 1950s he developed a series of ceramic tiles with local motives from the island of Bornholm which were produced for decades up until 1995 - several years after Stougaard had died in 1987.
