$5,800 / set - Yasha Heifetz Cerused Oak Sculptural Table LampBy Yasha Heifetz, HeifetzLocated in New York, NYYasha Heifetz designed lamp for self manufacturing company, Heifetz Lighting Co. A tall sculptural biomorphic cerused oak wood table lamp on black painted wooden base. Carved from a single piece of oak and mounted on a rectangle tapered wood base. Features original leather lampshade with original black whip-stitch trim to accent its black wooden base. 2 pieces of damage to shade, both shown in images, are both not noticeable when the light is in use. Incredible condition for work created in the 1950's. Yasha Heifetz began Heifetz Lighitng Company in 1938. He rose to fame in 1950 when he co-sponsored and was an esteemed judge, alongside Marcel Breur and 2 directors of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) of NYC in a lighting design competition for MoMA itself. Both claimed at the time that all available options felt "flat and static" as most lamps design ethos felt more attention on the lamp rather than the lighting it emit. Over 600 designers participated in the competition; including Richard Schultz of Knoll and Alexey Brodovitch...Category
