About the Item

This lovely piece of Mid-Century lighting technology is known as 'The Roller'. It has amazing reach for a lamp of this period because of the unique design of the steel counterbalance, which 'rolls' through the full range of motion giving perfect balance in all positions. Horstmann lamps have a more stabile function than spring loaded lamps such as Herbert Terry's Angle-poise. Signed Hadrill and Horstmann to the cast aluminium armature. This is a great lamp for architects, designers, makers and readers alike as it moves light where ever you want it to go without springing back. Handsome in every position. The horizontal reach when fully outstretched is 85cm. The vertical reach fully outstretched is 92cm. Base width is 15cm x 15cm. Height to elbow when in a relaxed position as in image no.3 is 50cm. Interior of shade is in original, slightly tarnished silver aluminium finish. The rest of the lamp has been sensitively and gently restored. The bakelite switch and lamp holder have been replaced with a new bakelite switch and holder. Rewired with double insulated, triple core, cloth covered twisted cord. Tested, certified to Australian electrical standards and ready to use. It takes one B22 (Standard Bayonet cap) light bulb. Wired to run on Australia's 240v mains electricity.
