About the Item
A unique hand-painted ceramic table lamp meticulously crafted in Vietnam to the specifications of James Hicks. This lamp harmoniously blends modern 3D form with traditional Vietnamese hand-painted motifs, representing a fusion of diverse cultural influences. Wired for 120 volts, this lamp synthesizes traditions and worldviews. James Hicks, an architect, exhibition designer, and artist, collaborated with the artisans of Bat Trang ceramic village to bring this creation to life. Inspired by his global experiences and artistic pursuits, Hicks developed the dynamic 3D form during his tenure at the National Institute of Design in India and Ecole Duperree in Paris. This lamp, commissioned as part of a limited edition series in 2017, reflects Hicks' passion for creating captivating forms and celebrating the human touch through hand-painted detailing, inspired by his early admiration for Rembrandt etchings.
This listing is for a unique piece I have available to be shipped immediately. Also, if desired, I can make custom versions; the lead time for that is 12-13 weeks. For the custom pieces motifs can be selected and the color of hand-painted decoration can be selected from a small palette.
