Large ceramic lamp made by Jordi Aiguadé. Around 1970.
In brown color and with a very organic shape. The size is spectacular.
It is in great condition.
Lampshade, the structure is the original and the textile has been changed, which is a raffia.
Born in Barcelona in 1925, Jordi Aguadé founded his ceramics workshop in 1950. A student at the Instituto Escuela de la Generalitat de Catalunya, Aguadé was an apprentice to the legendary ceramicist Josep Llorens Artigas at the time when the Artigas workshop collaborated with Joan Miró on some of its large ceramic murals. Aguadé completed his training in Paris and in Sweden, where he received the influence of Scandinavian aesthetic currents. Back in Barcelona, the designs of his figures and the ceramics he uses revolutionize the ceramics market.
Jordi Aguadé was one of the founding members of "La Cantonada", a multidisciplinary design group of great relevance during the 1960s and 1970s. Since 2003 he has been a member of the Royal Catalan Academy of Fine Arts and Sant Jordi, and in 2015 He was awarded the Creu de Sant Jordi, one of the highest recognitions that a person can receive from the Generalitat of Catalonia.
