Melville G. Willer 1930 Art Deco Metalware Table Lamp With Yellow Lacquer

An art deco table lamp designed by Melville. G. Willer Beautiful stylish SightLight table lamp, created in America during the art deco period, back in the 1930. This iconic electric lamp was designed by Melville. G. Willer for The Sight Light Corporation based in Greenwich Connecticut. Crafted in patinated Aluminum bronze with an aluminum shade in flat round shape and painted with shiny glossy yellow. Fitted at the base, with a push on/off button. Designed for one bulb, original electric cord cable in working condition and tested. Weight: 7 pounds. Measurements: Height 15 Inches (36.75 Cm), Diameter 12 Inches (29.40 Cm), Base 7.25 Inches (18.42 Cm). Marks: In high relief in the underneath; THE SIGHT LIGHT CORP DEEP RIVER, CONN. CANADIAN PATENT 1936. OTHER PATENTS PENDING. PAT. NOS. 2058139-2226222. 2226223 NE. Yellow and black sticker in the middle; THE SIGHT LIGHT CORPORATION DEEP RIVER CONN. US PAT NOS 2.058.139 2.226.222 2.226.223 CANADIAN PAT. 1936 OTHER PATENT PENDING. Note: The style is called the Sightlight, and it was manufactured by M. G. Wheeler Co., Inc. of Greenwich, Connecticut. We haven't found out yet when the company started, but we did find a record that indicates a Melville G. Wheeler filed for incorporation on July 27, 1950. I found conflicting information about a date for the lamps, with one source stating that it was a 1930 design, while another claimed it was a product of the 1940, and several others said 1950 but, following the design and style we can assure is a 1930's design. Note: A swivel version also exist and It is believed these lamps were initially made for submarines. The swivel lamps were made of brass and spun steel. Other versions were also produced with design variants in the base. Literature: To be researched. Condition: The overall condition of this ring is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the gold. All gemstones, are secured in the settings. This piece has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
