Pair of 18th Centurty Spanish Carved Gilt Wood Altar Candlesticks Table Lamps

About the Item

A wonderful pair of wooden altar candlesticks converted to table lamps, Spain, mid-18th century. Hand-carved decorate with acanthus leaf motivs on richly elaborate tripod base and gold leaf gilding over gesso, with new of-white lamp shades. These candelsticks had been electrified with E27/E26 bulb holders adequate to fit the lamp shades with the porcelain rings. With wonderful patina through years of use, age rubs to wood and gesso - all in fine antique condition, fully functional. Total height with shade: 24" / 61 cm Width/ depth: 10" / 25 cm Height of candlesticks only: 18" / 46 cm (without bulb holder) Tripod base: 5.25" x 5.25" / 13 cm x 13 cm Shade: D 10" x H 7" / 25 cm x 18 cm.

    Repaired: The top of a candlestick has been professionally repaired, barely not visible. Additions or alterations made to the original: Electrified and new lamp shades. Replacements made: Lamp shades from a later time. Wear consistent with age and use. With wonderful patina through years of use, age rubs to wood and gesso - all in fine antique condition, fully functional.
