About the Item

Pair of Danish midcentury table lamps by Michael Andersen This pair of table lamps was produced by Michael Andersen & Søn in the 1960s. Beautiful sculpturally shaped base with brown and white / grey colored glaze. The base have an onion like technique very unique and beautiful. The lamps still wear the original MA&S paper sticker. Included are new lampshades. The lamps have been rewired with European plugs. To be checked by a local electrician before put to use. Measurements of the base without the lamp shade are: 30cm height and 12 cm diametre      Measurements Height including lamp shade (as shown in photos): 50 cm Height base only: 30 cm Width x depth lamp base: 16 cm (6.30") Diameter lamp shade: 33 cm Lightbulb: For type E26/E27 Edison screw-fitting.

The lamp is bottle form in shape with, a ribbed surface and a tall smooth neck. Designed by Michael Andersen, Bornholm Keramiks in Denmark, circa 1950s, in a style reminiscent of Arne Bang. Makers mark and sticker on the base with model number. In great condition, no chips, crack or repairs. Size: Height 52 cms (Excluding light fitting) 58 cms includes light fitting Diameter at widest point 28 cms Diameter at base 18 cms Founded in 1890 by Jens Michael Andersen (1859-1931) who trained at the Hjorth pottery, on the Danish island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea. Production in the early days was mainly utilitarian, but developed a range of items including statues, decorative vases and Majolica. Jens' son Daniel Folkmann Andersen (1885-1959) took over the running of the company with his brother Michael, developing glazes, designs and a range of animal figures.
