Pair of French 19th Century Louis XVI Style Lamps
About the Item
A most elegant pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu, faux painted Porphyry and Bleu Turquin marble lamps. Each lamp is raised by a wonderfully executed triangular shaped faux painted Porphyry base with fine cut corners and concave sides. At the centers are delicate ormolu bands and Bleu Turquin marbles that repeat the shape of the bases and display decorative stepped designs. Striking fluted ormolu supports with hoof feet and foliate designs lead upwards to beautiful richly chased masks of maidens framed within finely detailed berried laurel wreaths and floral garlands. The uniquely shaped Bleu Turquin marble bodies display superb bottom foliate finials and lovely pierced dome shaped ormolu tops with tied fluted bands and interlocking geometric designs.
