Pair of French 19th Century Louis XVI Style Red Vulcano Onyx and Ormolu Lamps
About the Item
An exceptional and most decorative pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. red Vulcano onyx and ormolu lamps. Each lamp is raised by a square base with fine ormolu ball feet and a beautiful wrap around tied berried laurel ormolu band at the lightly curved socle shaped pedestal. The elegantly shaped and most decorative Vulcano onyx bodies are encased with lovely palmettes at the base and striking richly chased rams heads at each side connected by charming swaging blooming flower garlands and a pierced wrap around ormolu band with berried laurel branches and a fine central rosette. Above is a decorative mottled design and acanthus leaf ormolu band. All original gilt throughout.
