Pair Ormolu Mounted 'Pate sur Pate' Porcelain Lamps Depicting Cupids

About the Item

A Magnificent pair of 'pate sur pate' (paste on paste) decorated vases with lavish gilt bronze mounts. This method of decoration was perfected by Marc Louis Solon at Sevres circa 1850. He later moved to England where under his direction Minton's Porcelain Manufactory produced large quantities of Pate sue Pate. The Celadon colored ground and translucent decoration create a quiet elegance suitable for any style of decoration, while the lavish gilt bronze mounts hints at the elegance of bygone eras.
