About the Item

A rare and sculptural french table lamp in cast stone by Albert Tormos, France 1970. . This beautiful piece in cast stone is made of two parts : the base including electric installation, and a largelampshade. . The size is very good and the lamps is in a good vintage conditon. . There were his sculptures, then his models reproduced with him by his 3 sons whom he trained, during his lifetime, then a period when his sons sculpted his models in his place because he was sick, then a time of continuity after his death in 1982. Then the 3 sculptor sons dispersed and stopped. . There was in parallel between the threads the question of the signing of the documents of course. And the possible creation of new models . And then there was at that time a huge craze for this type of sculpture, and many "sculptors" got into it. Sometimes with the same Luberon stone, often not even, much softer and less brittle stones. Because the stone of the Luberon is terrible to carve. When it snaps, it's hours of work lost. . And then for a few years it seems that there have been descendants who are getting back into it. I don't know how they identify themselves.
