French Napoleon III Empire Style Mahogany and Ormolu Mounted Cheval Mirror
About the Item
A very fine French 19th century Napoleon III Empire style mahogany and ormolu-mounted freestanding Cheval swiveling mirror. The oval framed mirror plate surmounted with Empire style gilt bronze laurel wreaths, flanked by twin supports decorated with ormolu urns, on a rectangular base with ormolu decorations emblematic to the French Empire reign. The mirror back recently upholstered, Paris, circa 1860-1870.
