French Regence Style Gilded Figural Mirror, 19th Century
About the Item
Exceptional 19th century French Regence style gilded figural mirror with beveled glass plate.
The magnificently carved foliate-inspired top of the mirror is centered by scrolling acanthus shell and flanked by beautifully carved gilt sculptures of maidens within a foliate motif, all above a beveled mirror plate surrounded by fretwork and terminating in intricately carved C-scrolls issuing a floral bouquet.
The beauty and uniqueness in this mirror is in placement of pierced giltwood decorating over the mirror plate.
