Dressing Table Mirror in highly figured maple. Early 1800s.
About the Item
This is a lovely dressing table mirror from early 1800. It is made in highly figured American maple veneer and solids. Parts of the frame are American spruce.
Because of the unique graining of the wood, French Polished shellac was chosen as a most translucent and fitting finish for the restoration.
French polished shellac possesses unique qualities. While a high gloss finish, it does not detract from 3 dimensional reflective qualities of the wood itself.
Original lock was de-rusted, cleaned and oiled. And it shows. The clicking coming out of it sounds proper.
Mirror is showing sines of age. It could be replaced with low iron or regular mirror at the additional cost.
Every detailed on this mirror was treated with love and patience.
The result is, beautifully restored elegant ascent that's ready to be loved and cherished.
