18th Century Dutch Giltwood Louis XVI Mirror with Verre Églomisé

About the Item

A Dutch 18th century rectangular giltwood Louis XVI mirror in very good condition. The mirror has a basswood frame surrounded by a pearl rim with decoration of bay leaves and berries. On the top it has a medallion in 'Verre églomisé' with a Silhouette portrait in east-Indian ink and watercolor. Beautiful craftsmanship. The mercury glass is slightly weathered. The mirror was made in the Netherlands around 1780 at the end of the VOC era (1602-1800, United East India Company). Object: Mirror Designer: Unknown Style: Antique.
