20th Century James Irvine Wall Mirror Belvedere for Danese Italy Shaped
About the Item
Belvedere Danese reproduces the shape of Italy in large dimensions: a familiar shape that thus becomes unprecedented and, in addition to optically enlarging the space, lends a touch of irony to the environment in which one lives. The author of this wall mirror, James Irvine, about this project said: "If you flip through an atlas, one of those pastel-colored ones, you immediately see the shape of each country. Some are beautiful, some are ugly. Some are interesting, some are boring. Italy has the good fortune to be truly the Bel Paese, in fact it is not really a compliment to call it a 'boot': to me it rather looks like a leg and a pretty sight. Where would one put this mirror? In the pizzeria, in the travel agency, in the foyer of a big Italian company, and maybe it will be useful for some pretty girl to put on her lipstick. In the future who knows, more mirrors could be made in the shape of other countries of the world!"
The mirror is entirely in methacrylate mirror with PVC foam backing.
Very good condition, as never used, presence of the brandmark Danese as shown in photo.
