Antique early 20th-century French gold gilt Louis seize or Empire oval mirror
About the Item
This stunning and elegant oval mirror was crafted in northern France in the early twentieth century, around 1910. The frame is made of linden wood and smoothed with gesso. Adorned with subtle and detailed molding, the frame also features a beautifully ornamented crown atop, shaped like a tied ribbon. The slim, graceful design of the frame and the crown epitomize the Louis Seize style. The frame is gilded with leaf gold and gold paint, acquiring a beautiful patina over the years. The mirror glass was removed in our workshop and the whole piece was gently cleaned. A new mirror glass plate was firmly inserted and a protective cardboard backing was added. The mirror is now clean, free from damage, and ready for use.
