About the Item
Striking Biedermeier wall mirror from the early 19th century in Vienna/ Austria around 1820. This magnificent wall mirror from the very early renown Biedermeier period comes with a traditional overlapped substructure made of spruce wood and impresses with a thick walnut veneered surface showing an absolute amazing grain - just see how the veneer with the branches was arranged. On this precious mirror even the outer edges were veneered! A traditional hand polished shellac finish completes the outstanding look of this perfectly restored antique 19th century wall mirror which keeps the still original, over 200 year old facet cut mirror glass, showing aging spots, light flaking and minimal scratches but these won't affect the beauty or functionality in any way, much more it underlines the incredible charme of a past period. The backside is closed with the original wooden board and the hand forged ring makes wall mounting easy.
