French Regence Period Giltwood Mirror with Birds, Scallop Shell and Flowers

About the Item

French Regence period giltwood parclose mirror (18th century), with beautifully-detailed carved birds and scallop shell on pediment, and flowers and other decoration around the frame. Very nice example of mercury glass, which appears original. The pediment, as typical, is a separate piece and removable.

    Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Very good overall for its age, with some redundant insect holes, minor wear, scratches and chips to gilding, all consistent with age and use; antique mercury glass has some spots and losses of silvering.
