About the Item

Exceptional antique hallway mirror with hand carved angel and lions sculptures. This stunning, Dutch Renaissance Revival entry hall mirror is a marvelous antique to come home to, but it also helps you to look your finest just before leaving. The very well carved decor of Renaissance elements over the years has only become more beautiful, because it now has a marvelous patina. For shooting photos of the entire piece, we put some soap on the mirror otherwise our lens would not focus on the stunning details in the frame. As you can see in our other photos, the original antique mirror too could not be in a better condition. This is partly, because the back is covered with a zinc panel. The handcrafted metal nails tell us that this zinc back was never removed, which means that inside is the original antique mirror. The hand carved angel in the middle and the lion heads on either side are just some of the many, meaningful and decorative elements. The lid to the practical compartment at the bottom still opens and shuts perfectly and the striking 'veins' in the tiger oak makes this piece even more special. Thanks to the original and strong metal hooks on the back, mounting this antique on your wall is child's play.
