Italian Mid 19th Century Giltwood Mirror from Naples
About the Item
A very handsome Italian mid 19th century giltwood mirror from Naples. The original mirror plate is framed within a straight carved giltwood band with charming carvings within a fabulous scalloped frame. Mottled border and exquisite interlocking carved designs are in a satin and burnished finish on a hammered backplate. At the bottom are two feet with central cabochons on a lattice pattern below a rinceau shaped scroll. Above is the impressive uniquely shaped top crown centered by the original circular top mirror plate above a charming swaging floral garland and flanked by large protruding capitols and lattice patterns. All original gilt.
