Pair of French Mid-19th Century Louis XVI Style Giltwood Mirrors
About the Item
A stunning and large scale pair of French mid 19th century Louis XVI st. giltwood mirrors. Each mirror retains its original mirror plate framed within an elegant mottled beaded border. The frame displays an exceptional and most decorative wrap around egg and dart design continuing along with the impressive arched top crown. The top crown displays a superb gadroon designed band leading to the remarkable richly carved central reserve of charming blooming flowers amidst a quiver and the eternal flame tied by laurel branches while a fine twisted ribbon band extends along with the background with block rosettes all below a beautiful geometric top band. All original gilt throughout.
