Pair of Italian 18th Century Louis XVI Period Mirrors
About the Item
An exceptional true pair of Italian 18th century Louis XVI period giltwood mirrors with faux painted both Porphyry and white Carrara marble. Each elegant mirror retains their original mirror plates framed within a most decorative twisted rope giltwood design. At the base are lovely floral rosettes centered by elegant pierced scrolled movements. Above are striking plaques with faux painted white Carrara marble Roman emperors set on a wonderfully executed faux painted Porphyry background. Surrounding each plaque are scrolled giltwood movements with tied ribbons and swaging floral garlands. All original gilt and patina throughout.
