Built on traditional gestures but with an outline completely new and contemporary: the division mirror-handle is minimized without variations in the surface but with a polished-brushed finish that highlights the craftsmanship. Shapes mirrors are meant to be used within the domestic environment due to the natural weight of the metal, as a decorative object. Smaller sized pieces can fit and be carried inside a purse, handbag or pocket, and become a portable everyday luxury feature. Mingardo Ilario founded Mingardo Blacksmith Workshop in 1970, after over twenty years’ experience in the metal processing field. The production was initially focused on simple blacksmith works for the construction industry. Over the time, it has become more refined, enabling the company to collaborate with internationally renowned companies and architects: from the first collaborations with architect Carlo Scarpa to the more recent commissions for Museo del Novecento in Milan, Parco della Musica in Florence, and Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari. Over the years, the Workshop has achieved great results, with the production of unique metal products, all hand-wrought by a highly skilled team of specialized artisans. Nowadays, it is highly regarded in the local artisan field for its high-end refined finishing touches and details, and for its know-how.
