About the Item

The Italian Mid-Century Modern, which was locally known as "rational design" or "modern design" has produced some of the most famous and sought-after pieces worldwide. Chairs and armchairs by Gio Ponti, lamps by Stilnovo and Oscar Torlasco. Many were the designers involved in this buzzy and prolific historic period, and almost as many were the manufacturers. However, one stands out amongst all others, for the number of iconic designs it secured and subsequently put into production: we're speaking of Cassina, based in Meda, in the outskirts of Milano, and still active to these days. Particularly renowned for its wood furniture, designed by Gianfranco Frattini, Gio Ponti and Tobia Scarpa amongst others, Cassina left an indelible mark on the Italian design scene. This mirror, attributed to the manufacturer, is a charming and timeless design piece: the wooden frame is elegantly beveled, and four brass pins with hidden threads give an understated but refined accent. It is preserved in perfect original conditions, the mirror is not stained and the frame is perfectly solid.
