Vintage Spanish Gilt Metal Toleware Wall Mirror 'circa 1970s'
About the Item
Vintage Spanish gilt metal toleware wall mirror (circa 1970s). The Spanish excel at making beautiful toleware pieces which are decoratively painted and gilded enamelled metal ware. This gorgeous mirror is topped by a toleware flower and ribbon motif, or festoon. This motif has its origins when representations of natural flowers were hung up over an entrance doorway on fête days, or suspended around an altar. Such beauty combined with this kind of character is hard to find. It would make a stunning piece in the entranceway of a home or perhaps at the end of a hallway. It is in overall good condition with a weighty wooden backing providing structure and support. Upon request a video can be provided.
