Marvelous pair vintage Modern and a bit Art Deco Revival black lacquer & burl inlay cylinder shaped end table cabinets or nightstands by Henredon. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that these are vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, these have been cleaned and oiled and no outstanding flaws found only wonderful age patina. This is a GORGEOUS pair of vintage Modern, with a bit of Art Deco Revival influence, end tables by Henredon comprised of cylindrical shaped frames with stunning round tops bearing a circular burl inlay trimmed with brass detail and rounded black lacquered edges. Each end table or nightstand has a door with a dark burl wood half-moon shaped finger pull with brass trim and a single shelf behind the door. They have round inset toe-kick style black lacquered bases and they are PHENOMENAL!!! Just take another look at the MAGNIFICENT wood grain and contrasting tones… talk about incredible!! And they are versatile!! They will be marvelous whether used as end tables in your living room on each side of your sofa, as nightstands beside the bed in your bedroom, or in the family room floating as storage cabinets or accent tables as they are beautifully finished all around. They would also be lovely pedestals hosting a piece of artwork, sculpture, or a pair of awesome table lamps!! They have a marvelous Modern style with a Chinoiserie and Art Deco Revival flair you are sure to love for years to come!!
Henredon was founded in 1945 by four Drexel Heritage executives; T. Henry Wilson, Ralph Edwards, Donnell VanOppen, and Sterling Collet. The name Henredon is a combination of their names. These four men were determined to build furniture of custom quality and their original offering was only three chests. It has since blossomed into hundreds of designs still in keeping with their goal. Through the years they have engaged well-known designers to create their unique and fine furniture. They currently are part of the company Furniture Brands, Inc. but still embracing their long-standing tradition of fine furniture craftsmanship and reputation for timeless elegance.
Call them end tables, call them nightstands, call them pedestals or cabinets… BUT whatever you call this incredible pair of burl & black lacquer tables by Henredon… be sure you call them YOURS!!!!

Henredon
Founded in 1945, Henredon is one of the more recently minted of the top-tier North Carolina furniture makers. Among collectors, Henredon is admired both for its sleek, sexy furniture of the 1970s and for its partnerships with noted designers, a program that started in the 1950s with decorating icon Dorothy Draper and architect Frank Lloyd Wright.
From the start, Henredon — the brand name is a portmanteau term, derived from the first names or initials of three of the company’s founders — has been best known for its vintage case pieces, such as cabinets, dressers, armoires and credenzas. Though not on the cutting edge stylistically, the company’s production has always kept pace with contemporary tastes. In 1953, Henredon began a collaboration with Dorothy Draper, famed for bravura interior design commissions such as the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco and the Greenbrier resort in West Virginia. Her taste for bold, modernized historical style is reflected in the incised baroque medallions of her España line and the geometric motif of her Viennese furnishings group.
In 1955, Henredon launched the Taliesin Ensemble by Wright, named after the architect’s houses in Wisconsin and Arizona. The pieces are recognizable by their angular shapes a dentil motif on their edges. In those years, Henredon had a cross-licensing agreement with the Heritage furniture company, and Draper and Wright furniture is usually labeled Heritage-Henredon.
In later decades, Henredon produced collections for such designers as Ralph Lauren and Laura Ashley. The company took a stylish turn in the 1970s, fabricating new and unusual forms like mirrored room dividers and console tables with rounded corners and burl-wood veneers. Such pieces are priced in the $3,000 to $4,000 range, as are chests of drawers by Draper. Wright furniture tends toward the higher end, priced around $7,000. As you will see on 1stDibs, Henredon was an aesthetically diverse maker, but its furniture commands attention and makes a statement in any eclectic decor.
