Pair of Art Deco Marble Top Book-matched Walnut & Burled Carpathian Nightstands
About the Item
This materially stunning and well formed Pair of Art Deco Marble Top Nightstands in Bookmatched Walnut & Burled Carpathian Elm Inlays W/ Black Lacquer Detailing originate from France, Circa 1935. Featuring a subtle rectilinear profile with skyscraper style tiered bases and a stunning array of inlayed wood detailing, with edges lined with gleaming black lacquer. The front is composed of three sections providing ample storage opportunity, two open shelves and a drawer with a cloud form inlay of burled carpathian elm, a rare wood sourced from the Carpathian Mountain Range in central Europe. The drawers have round and tapered brass pulls with subtly concave indentations, with a smooth and elegant feel both visually and to the touch. The tops are a exotic marble composed of a mixture of grays, blacks, and cream hues with veining in a subtle red iron oxide. A wonderful balance of materials and stunningly fabricated, this pair of nightstands is an excellent example of the design and material sensibility of the Art Deco era. These nightstands will style well in a wide array of spaces and settings, from Art Deco to Mid-Century Modernist and Contemporary Interiors. In Mint Restored Condition.
