"The Blue Knights, " Brilliant, Mid-Century Enamel Panel by Hansen
About the Item
Brilliantly designed and executed, this ambitious enamel panel -- depicting four blue knights with swords, voluminous robes and fantastic hats -- was created by Helen Hansen in the 1950s. Hansen shows a mastery of the medium, using subtle gradations in color for each knight's robe, ranging from cerulean to turquoise, and from dark purple to emerald. Highly unusual for a panel of this kind, it retains its original label, indicating that Hansen lived in Warren, Ohio, and priced the piece at $38!
