Circa 1930 this piece is done by Flores Arias who was a classically trained Mexican artist known for his carvings that illustrate the plight of Mexican peasantry. Flores Arias worked in the same company as Diego Rivera, Mardonio Magana and Roberto Selva. Quality, quality, quality piece that illustrates the love and tenderness a mother has for her child despite the overwhelming poverty and hardship of Mexican peasants.
