About the Item

This impressive watch has been redesigned from an vintage pocketcamera by Dutch designer Stef van der Bijl. The body has been made from an 1930’s Joran / Beier folding camera with a Gauthier Gmbh Calmbach Prontor II lens, the optical lens has been made by Schneider-Kreuznach. All functions like shutter, aperture and timer have been restored and are fully functional. Although it does not make pictures anymore, these are the beautiful gadgets and the proof that this camera has taken many pictures during it’s life trough WWII. Inside the lens, a brand new brass skeleton mechanical clockwork has been installed by the professional Dutch watchmaker Kalle Slaap. Warranty on the clockwork is 3 years. Please note that is an artwork, the watch is not water resistant. With normal use, this is clockwork should at least survive a lifetime. The watch wears very comfortable due to the custom shackle, it rests on the wrist by the backside lens, which has a diameter of 28 mm. The total watch weights 159 gram only. The diameter of the body is 58 mm. The leather strap of the watch comes from the pocket camera case. The bodywork of the camera is the display for the watch, together with the bodywork comes the leather protection case. This is a unique piece, Stef van der Bijl makes a very limited collection of the so-called Time Traveller’s Watch. Each model is different and therefore unique. Each watch will be numbered and signed by the designer. This Prontor II, has production number 006. Since there are only a few models of camera lenses with the right demands to rebuild into a watch, the production will be limited to a maximum of only 100 pieces. The watch comes with a certificate of ownership, signed by the designer, with the guaranty of uniqueness. Redesigned by Stef van der Bijl, handmade by Kalle Slaap.
