About the Item
Rare Triplex "A3" Aero - Motor Goggles In Original Case.
An excellent and scarce pair of early aviation or motoring glasses made by Triplex. The goggles come in their original hard case with a paper label "Triplex "A3" Goggles, Clear" and embossed in gilt "Triplex Safety Glass, STG, Aero-motor Goggles". The tinted oval goggles with metal frames are backed with fur-trimmed 'sprung' soft fabric and an elastic headband. The frames are in excellent condition as is the fur trim fabric. The headband has lost its elasticity but where it is attached to the glasses the leather is very good and is embossed in gilt "Triplex Safety Glass, STG". The case is in good condition, still solid but the cloth covering is a little worn. The goggles were used by both air pilots and motorists alike and these early goggles are hard to find in any condition and exceptionally rare with the original case.
