This is an antique carpentry book. An English language, bound reference guide by Peter Nicholson, dating to the Victorian period, published 1846.
Full Title: Practical Carpentry, Joinery and Cabinet-Making; Being an new and complete System of Lines for the use of workmen, founded on accurate geometrical and mechanical principles, with their application in Carpentry - to roofs - domes, centring, etc; In joinery - to stairs, hand-rails, soffits, niches etc; In Cabinet-making, to furniture, both plain and ornamental. Fully and clearly explained.
Peter Nicholson (1765 - 1844) was a Scottish architect, carpenter, mathematician and engineer.

Neither academic nor overtly modernist, his ravishing paintings are a singular achievement of the early twentieth century.
