This volume has been published to coincide with an exhibition of Moore’s textile works at the Henry Moore Foundation, its publication has provided the opportunity for Moore’s newly discovered textile works to be catalogued and illustrated. Renowned for his sculptural works and wartime sketches, some of the textile designs illustrated in this book only came to light in 2006. As a socialist who believes in art functioning in a quotidian setting, this book documents and interprets Moore’s vision of art melding with life. Fascinating motifs such as Moore’s clock faces, safety pins, piano keys and signature reclining figures are reproduced in his textile designs.
This lavishly illustrated volume documents and interprets Moore’s designs for scarves, dresses, upholstery fabrics as well as wall panels. Reproduced in their true and vibrant colourways, a true collector’s item on the hitherto neglected aspect of Moore’s work.
