About the Item
Intimate Visions: The Photography of Dorothy Norman by Miles Barth. Chronicle Books, San Francisco, 1993. She was best known for her long association with Alfred Stieglitz and was an accomplished photographer in her own right. Her life was motivated by a desire to advance both art and action. She actively cultivated an interest in people who were involved in the arts. She became acquainted with photographer Alfred Stieglitz, who was already a well-known photographer, in 1927. Although both were married at that time, Stieglitz was married to Georgia O'Keeffe, he became her mentor, her friend, and then her lover.
