Life of the Late King of France Lewis XIII by James Howell 1st Edition, 1646

About the Item

An extensive biography of the life of Louis XIII king of France who ruled from 1610-1643. This volume is the first edition of Howell's work and retains its original full calf leather binding with raised spine and gilt lettering. Owners ink signature "George Blount" on frontispiece. Also contains a companion biography of French Cardinal Richelieu. An interesting and attractive early book published shortly after the death of Louis XIII. Contains a portrait of Prince Charles to whom the book is dedicated.

    Repaired: Internal paper repairs and losses to small areas of certain pages. Please request complete condition report. A handsome 17th century leather bound book of historical interest. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Minor structural damages. In quite good condition considering it is almost 400 years old.
