Covering 50 years of furniture designs, this two-volume boxed set is organised by year and broken into sections on seating, furniture and lighting. Designs are clearly depicted with black-and-white photographs and descriptive captions. The work of Ettorre Sottsass, Achille Castiglioni, Mario Bellini, Vico Magistretti, Enzo Mari and Gae Aulenti appears frequently, alongside the work of such lesser-known giants as Carlo d'Carli, Gian Franco Frattini, Osvaldo Borsani and Angelo Mangiarotti. Recognition is also paid to hundreds of Italy's premier furniture manufacturers, including Cassina, Arteluce, Artemide, Azucena, B&B, Bonacina, Cappellini, Cassina, Driade, Flos, Fontana Arte, Kartell, Memphis, O-Luce, Poltronova and Zanotta. Although completely written in Italian, it provides an informative visual guide for anyone looking to find a specific modern Italian design or wishing to trace the evolution of a 20th-century Italian designer.
