Vintage Fashion: Collecting and Wearing Designer Classics - Emma Baxter Wright

About the Item

Published by Carlton Books Limited, 1st edition, London, 2006. During the course of the 20th century, fashion has been lifted from the status of what we just wear to being an art form. The vintage clothing in this book has been culled from various designers’ archives, and captured in print like gorgeous pressed flowers. From the untrammelled luxury of the belle époque, ease into the roaring 20s, to the frugal silhouette of the wartime 40s, the dashing Dior “New Look” in the 50s, gogo boots and space age of the swinging 60s, flower power 70s, all the way to the glam rock and power suit of the 80s. This book documents the distinctive style of each era in vintage fashion and its wax and wanes under social and economic circumstances. Complemented with a foreword by the celebrated British designer Zandra Rhodes, this book is a vintage fashion connoisseur must-have.
