Large two-handled antique silver trophy cup & cover
About the Item
Impressive, large handmade silver trophy cup and cover decorated with raised hand chased sections of acanthus leaves, a panel of fruit and berry garlands with ribbon ties around the rim of the cup. The cover features a panel of swirling foliage interspersed with flowerheads set against a mottled ground. Above this are classical chased and applied leaf bands.
The decoration continues down to the spreading circular base which is decorated with acanthus leaves, a rope girdle and a band of geometric leaf design. Finally, the cast handles are of particularly fine quality and again, the acanthus leaf decorations are finely detailed and in high relief. Altogether a very fine trophy and perfect for engraving.
