This is a vintage decorative halved ammonite. An African, opalized fossil on display plinth, dating to Cretaceous period millions of years ago, polished and presented circa 1970.

Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good original order
Lightly polished shell, presented with its natural interior
Fossilised roughly 100 million years ago, during the Cretaceous period
Mellow orange hues to the outer shell, with ribbed finish to the edge
Offers a light translucence to the edge when viewed in direct light
Each half standing upon a tiered pine base with grooved inserts
Removable from the plinth to enjoy the tactile natural finish
