Silverplate Cannon With Wheels

About the Item

This exceptional objet d'art is modeled after a cannon from the siege of Mafeking, a 217-day conflict in South Africa during the Second Boer War. It is composed of silverplate over copper and showcases two wheels. Models such as these were highly common in the Victorian era to commemorate important battles and would have undoubtedly served as a symbol of pride for British military prowess.
