About the Item
English Arts and Crafts period "Dinner Gong" by William Tonks & Sons (stamped on back). A well-cast brass or bronze eagle head mounted on an oak plaque of shield form and holding a snake in it's beak. The snake forms the hooks from which the gong hangs on cord loops, a wood handled mallet hangs from a forked hook behind the gong on the bottom of the plaque.
