British Royal navy Cordite Charge Carrier rare 3 Cannister

About the Item

This is a rare example of the type of container that was used on Royal Navy ships to carry cordite charges. These were constructed of cork covered in canvas or leather. This one has been finished in canvas, with unusual three pieces joined by leather handle , decorated with a royal crest. A large and robustly stitched leather carrying strap hangs from two firmly attached brass pins. It does not obscure the crest if hanging in front and dates it to around WW1. This is an interesting piece of military history and is a brilliant decorative or collector’s item for anyone with an interest in gunnery, the navy or artillery.
