Together with many other unique and top quality works of religious art this piece too was part of a collection of immense rarity and beauty. This piece is one of many unique items that were collected over a period of decades. Mind you, each hair and each line of shade that you see on the face of Jesus and his disciple is hand-embroidered. It is most likely that this extremely time consuming and rare quality piece was made by a highly skilled nun, in early 20th century Europe. We think either in Holland, Belgium or France.
