18th Century French Louis XVI Carved Giltwood Wall Barometer & Thermometer
About the Item
Decorate a wall with this elegant, antique barometer with attached thermometer. Crafted in Paris, France, circa 1760 and hexagonal in shape, the scientific instrument features its original hand painted parchment paper with French inscriptions written in Indian ink. The hand movement is protected with a inset clear glass panel. The top is decorated with lyre motif and is dressed with the original thermometer in working condition. The back features the mechanism with the original mercury tubes. The Louis XVI style decorative piece is in very good condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich gilt patinated finish throughout the geometric frame.
