This is an antique pocket barometer altimeter. An English, oak cased explorer's instrument by Hicks of London, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1890. Delightful example of antique hiking or mountaineering interest Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order Brass pocket case presents deep golden tones Charmingly housed within a later Alpine inspired case, held stay with sealed insert Dashing silvered dial presents beautifully with quality, slender needle Annotated with a barometric scale from 21 to 31 inches of mercury To the outer edge, the altimeter calibrated from zero to 10,000 feet Marked 'J. Hicks, 8,9 and 10 Hatton Garden, London' This is a fascinating antique pocket barometer altimeter, encased in a darling Alpine inspired case for ornamental appeal. Sure to invite conversation upon a desktop or mantle. Delivered waxed, polished and ready to display.
