This is an antique library telescope. An English, brass 'Starboy' astronomical mounted refractor by Broadhurst, Clarkson & Co, dating to the early 20th century, circa 1920.
Perfect for bird watching, landscape appreciation, wildlife stalking, or maritime observation. Equally suitable for observing the night sky.
Displays consistent colour throughout and a desirable aged patina
Original primary barrel in good order with a few light indentations under close inspection
Striking brass brightwork presented in eye-catching, original order
By the renowned Broadhurst, Clarkson and Co. of London
Single draw tube extends smoothly, focused by knurled wheel moving an internal rack and pinion
Maker's mark to the angle viewer; Broadhurst, Clarkson and Co. 63 Farringdon Road London
Supplied with a parallel viewing tube and fascinating ephemera in the form of hand-written usage notes
Attaches to the cast iron tripod with two brass turn screws and rotates through 90 degrees fore and aft
This is a delightful antique library telescope, an early example of Broadhurst, Clarkson & Co's Starboy line of astronomical mounted scopes. Ideal for observing the night sky in comfort. Delivered polished and ready to be enjoyed.
