An exquisite early 19th Century hand painted four-fold leather room divider.
About the Item
An exquisite early 19th Century continental (possibly of Italian origins) circa 1820 four-fold leather room divider with an elegant fruit and floral pattern with birds perched. Hand painted in oil with faded gilt detailing over the top. The leather over canvas artistic panels framed in a complimentary leather border edge with exquisitely patinated brass nail tack dome top heads. Finished off stretched across a wooden frame. Please see in the images that there is damages along with historic repairs, none of which we believe detracts from this wonderful screens beauty and presence. These room divider screens are rare and in great demand, this is a fine example of that desired aesthetic. Panels approx. 50cm x 180cm making total width of 200cm.
