Antique British Wooden Trunk “Clayton”
About the Item
This sturdy wooden trunk was manufactured in the UK circa 1900. The chest is strengthened by sheets of iron, the sides and belted by wooden slats for extra durability. Ornamental iron elements —original drawbolts, hinges and the lock —add a slightly gothic touch. The secret leather pocket hidden on the inside of the lid offers an additional section for small treasures, while the main compartment provides plenty of storage space. The modern typography of the brand name “Clayton” inscribed on one side brings a contrasting point to the deep chocolate finish, inscribed with the marks of time.
